Born January 20, 1990; starting Power Forward for the Whitney Young Dolphins Freshman basketball team (19-11) for the 2005-2006 season. The Dolphins were coached by Kevin Snider and finished as the runners-up in the Chicago Public Schools Freshman City Championship, losing to Simeon High School.
Jason began playing basketball in the neighborhood against significantly older and taller players. As a pre-teen he was a participant in basketball clinics run by Evanston High School coach Bobby Locke. In 2001- 2002 participated in the Menomonee Club Basketball League winning the 11-U Championship in March 2002. On December 30-31, 2001 competed in the Mayor Daley "Three on Three" Tournament for 11-U players; the team of four players finished as runners up in this rugged competition played on a concrete floor at McCormick Place.
Attended elementary school at Chicago City Day School (CCDS) where he was a top student. Played basketball for three years for CCDS; on the basketball court was a deadly outside 3 point shooter; the 7th Grade CCDS Team finished as the runner-up in the 2004 Independent Schools League to Bannockburn (with standout player Marcus Jordan, currently a Freshman attending Loyola Academy High School). In November 2004 the CCDS Varsity team won the Latin School Middle School Tournament, 4-0 defeating Pilgrim Lutheran, Inter-American, Latin School and Pritzker Elementary.
In January 2005 played on an AAU 14-U tournament team (12-6 record) winning the Championship of the Illinois Basketball Academy - 'New Years Challenge Tournament' - defeating Fremd High School Feeder Team, Rising Stars, Illinois Basketball Stars and the IBA Travelers. In February 2005 finished as the runner-up in the Illinois Basketball Academy 'Spring is Around the Corner' Tournament - defeating Illinois Valley, Schaumburg Travelers, Ottawa Rockets and losing the Championship Game to the IBA Team. In February 2005 won a free throw shooting contest at Hoops Chicago.
Is a member of WYHS Sophmore Baseball team. Jason is in the starting First Baseman and is in the starting rotation of Pitchers on the WYHS Sophomore baseball team ~ (2006 Season Record: 3-1-1 Save); Wins against Lane Tech, Northside Prep, and Currie; and a Save against Simeon. Has been a Co-Captain of the Chicago Clubbers elite level baseball tournament team which played in the Suburban Power League. The team was ranked 9th in Illinois in 2004 and 11th in the State in 2005. Jason is a Maddux style control pitcher and is also a solid defensive infielder playing First Base; has played over 80 baseball games a season since age 10. Jason has been personally coached throughout his baseball career by some of the best, including Dave Rosene, Ted Krga and UIC Flames standout player, J.P. Carey.
A WYHS Honors Student with a 4.5 grade-point-average, Jason was awarded the WYHS Principals Award and is also a Honor Roll Student. Member of the prestigious Junior National Merit Honor Society after completing his first semester as a Freshman; his solid academic record is distinguished with A's in Mathematics and Science; Jason has traveled to Mexico and has studied the Spanish language for more than 10 years.
